BS Honors in Special Needs Education

Program Introduction

The Department of Special Needs Education of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at UMT is offering a four years BS Honors in Special Needs Education 2025. UMT has launched the program to prepare professionals to provide the most appropriate learning support to children with special needs. The program provides graduates with the aptitude to make respectable living conditions for people with special needs or those who are challenged. The program trains graduates in designing curriculums for students with range of competencies. Graduates are trained to develop competency in teaching students with communication and language difficulties, and working with behavioral and interaction challenges. All these issues require a specialized approach which is not possible in a traditional classroom learning environment.

The curriculum and instructional methodology has been properly supported by sign interpreters and benchmarked to the international standards. The participants will be able to pursue higher education anywhere in the world after completing this program. The program is in conformity to the International Movement for Inclusive Education and The United Nation Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
The program will enable students to understand general principles and practices in the education of students with special needs and acquire specialist knowledge and skills in one area of specialization. The areas of specialization offered include hearing impairment, intellectual impairment, physical handicap and visual impairment. The program is a blend of theory and practice. The option of internship is also available for those who intend to join teaching as a profession.
